Agenda Discussions:

1.       The Committee thanked Carl Cady for all the hard work he has done since the last meeting to prepare minutes of our working meetings with the County on 1/30/03and the meeting he attended with the County Commissioners on 2/3/03.

2.       Marilee brought the agenda for the upcoming Guemes Community Council meeting to be held 2/20/03.  Glen Veal agreed to present a Ferry Committee report at this meeting as Marilee will be unavailable.  Marilee reported that she had discussed with Anne Jackets the possibility of the Community Council managing any funds collected to cover Ferry Committee expenses.  Ann suggested that we speak to Carol Pellet about this.  Glen will bring this up at the meeting of the Council on 2/20/03.

3.       A discussion of whether to post the copy of the Unfair Labor Complaint made by the Inland Boatmen’s Union was had.  Glen will contact the County and the Union to ask if this is a public document.  Dixon explained that we would need an electronic copy in order to post this on the Ferry Committee web site, as it is too lengthy to scan and post as a jpg file.  If it is determined that this is a public document it can be posted on the clipboard to be placed at the Library.

4.       Steve Orsini submitted a copy of a proposed petition that Victor Garcia would like to circulate among island residents who are registered to vote on the island.  The signed petition would be submitted to the County Commissioners and basically would state that the undersigned want extensions to the schedule past 6:00 pm on Monday through Thursday to be approved by 60% of registered voters living on Guemes Island

The Committee will look forward to learning the results of the petition should Mr. Garcia decide to conduct the petition drive.

5.       The committee held a discussion of the proposed Task Force and our upcoming meeting with the Public Works Department on February 14th.  The committee will try to determine at the meeting who will be on the Task Force, why they will be on the Task Force and how they will be selected.  The committee will continue to bring forward our concern that the County lacks complete and accurate ridership data and our strong feeling that decisions should not be made based on the data the County currently has.

6.       The committee unanimously agreed to adopt the draft prepared by Carl Cady as our response to the Draft Operations Management Analysis.  This document was finalized and prepared for delivery to the Public Works Department on February 14th.
