Suggested elements for a County Resolution recognizing the Guemes Ferry Committee

WHEREAS, Guemes Island is served by the Guemes Ferry and

WHEREAS, Skagit County owns and operates the Guemes Ferry and

WHEREAS, the ferry operation most directly affects the residents and property owners of

Guemes Island and

WHEREAS, there is a tradition of a citizen Ferry Committee serving as a liaison between the Guemes Islander ferry users and the County Commissioners and

WHEREAS, historically a Ferry Committee has been elected , at open public meetings, to serve in this capacity for the last 20 years,

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Guemes Island Ferry Committee be the designated representatives of the rider ship in matters pertaining to the Guemes Ferry before the Skagit County Board of Commissioners.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Guemes Island Ferry Committee shall serve the ferry users and the County Commissioners through the procedures defined in the Guemes Island Ferry Committee Charter and at the direction of the Skagit County Board of Commissioners.
